03/24/2014 - Daily Prayer

God of hope and inspiration,

Dorothy Height, a 20th century civil rights activist and advocate for women and children, spent her life as a crusader for equality, and fighting uphill battles.

She observed that “greatness is not measured by what a man or woman accomplishes, but by the opposition he or she has overcome to reach his goals."

Each day, every one of us faces obstacles either in our personal or professional lives that are unseen by others. And every day, we are challenged to navigate and overcome then.

May the Holy One give us the ability each and every day to reach towards our most worthy goals, undeterred by the obstacles in our path. May we have the patience to persevere when we are tired, the courage to keep moving forward even when we are afraid, and compassion for others who are climbing mountains of their own. May this be God’s will.--AMEN.
