05/27/2014 - Daily Prayer

Members, today I want to talk about briefly about Johnny Cash. This great talent, whose songs gave great pleasure to many millions, was known as a rebel and an outlaw. And his life was not without its flaws. But underneath his exterior was a deep and abiding faith that guided him, gave him strength and informed his art.

These are lyrics from his song, “When the Man Comes Around”:

Till Armageddon, no Shalam, no Shalom.
Then the father hen will call his chickens home.
The wise men will bow down before the throne.
And at his feet they`ll cast their golden crown.
When the man comes around.

Whoever is unjust, let him be unjust still.
Whoever is righteous, let him be righteous still.
Whoever is filthy, let him be filthy still.
Listen to the words long written down, When the man comes around.
In measured hundredweight and penny pound.
When the man comes around.
If we open our eyes, we will find God’s blessing everywhere, and may we enjoy that grace as we work to build a better California together. --AMEN
