06/28/2010 - Daily Prayer

loving God of us all,
As we seek to serve you and the people of this state,
May we have both a sense of urgency and a sense of patience.
A sense of urgency in dealing with the problems and challenges we face in our wonderful state
--an urgency to meet the needs of our many residents struggling to make ends meet
--an urgency to help our businesses be the force that moves our economy forward
--an urgency to safeguard the health and well being of our people
--an urgency to protect the land and the water and the air of which we are
stewards
--an urgency to govern responsibly and honestly and transparently We need urgency.
And we need patience.
--the patience to listen respectfully to each other
--the patience to carefully pursue actions that will benefit the widest number of
our states` residents, not just our immediate circle
--the patience to resolutely hope and believe - even when hoping and believing may seem foolish - to hope and believe that by faithfully working together, we can reclaim a bright future for our children and grandchildren and generations to come in California
