Prayer Offered for May 11, 2026

God of all peoples and nations, as we recognize May as Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we pray in gratitude for the rich historical and cultural contributions of individuals and groups of AAPI descent to the United States and to California in particular.

We pray for those who persevered through generations of xenophobia, racism, bias, and violence to contribute their skills and talents in the areas of science and medicine, literature and art, infrastructure, government and law.

We pray for those who continue today recognizing their power in unity, enriching the diversity of this land, and working together in a spirit of partnership and collaboration for the common good. We echo the words of Margaret Cho: “The power of visibility can never be underestimated.”

We pray in Your name, gracious God.—AMEN.
