Upon invitation of the President, the following prayer was offered by Senator Caballero, as written by the Chaplain, Sister Michelle Gorman, RSM:
Merciful and loving God,
As we gather today, only You truly know what we will accomplish this week. We have ideas, visions, and institutions. We have talents, abilities, and the means to work and accomplish our plans. However, we cannot see the end of every beginning or how our plans will be transformed as they interact with the communities that are intended to serve. So, loving God, we ask You to inspire us with integrity, courage, and prosperity to our state. And may our mistakes (if any) lead us to greater creativity and deeper understanding of the complexities of our challenges. We trust that You are holding the interconnected unity of all our actions in the arms of Your mercy.—AMEN.
