It’s Friday and the end of the session is just days away, but the pile of bills and intensity of work only seems to increase. The usual hustle and bustle has reached a stampede with all seeking to meet goals and looming deadlines.
Let us take a collective breath and momentarily redirect our minds. Let’s turn our thoughts to family, friends and those we serve, and let us take a few moments to call to mind the ideals that brought us into this chamber.
We now pray for you, who sit in this House of the People. May you bring the best of your skills and talents, as well as your compassion, to serve the people of our state. May you craft and amend legislation that touches and improves the lives of all Californians. May you merit taking pride in your contributions to this amazing state. Most importantly, we pray that you be granted discernment, wisdom, and health as you attend to our collective future. We also ask that your families be granted strength and health, and that the sacrifices of time and presence that they endure be recognized. We also pray for the welfare of those in service to our state, whether in uniform, on the roadside, providers of physical or mental health and all those who bring their talents and skills towards a vision of a yet brighter future. Together let us say.—AMEN.
