Prayer Offered for August 25, 2016

As we center ourselves in God’s presence, let us listen to the words of the prophet, Isaiah:

But now, this is what God says—the One who created you:
“Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you;

I have called you by your name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;

And the flames will not consume you.
For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One.
You are precious and honored in my sight, and I love you.

Gracious and loving God, we know that with You

Nothing is discarded or forgotten.

Like stained glass,

Every jagged piece of our lives that is placed in Your skillful hand

Is joined to the whole in just the place it was made to fill.

And when You are through,

Each broken piece shall catch the Light

And reflect You, the One who is Unquenchable Fire.—AMEN.
