Great and loving God, in Your goodness and generosity we gather here under Your supreme and glorious power. Thank You for this blessed morning as we come together to do the official business of the State of California. Life is a gift to all of us and our most cherished possession. We realize that life is fragile and short with no guarantee of tomorrow. Help us to use wisely the time You give us to do great things, to not be selfish but concerned for the enrichment and satisfaction of the people who have sent us here to do good as best we are able.
O Gentle Spirit of God, help us to do at least one good thing today in service of Your people in our very diversified state. Show us how to live holy, humble, and grateful lives doing all we can to make the world a better place. In Your Good and Holy Spirit we pray!—AMEN.
