Prayer Offered for July 8, 2019

Almighty God, as Californians, we have many blessings for which we are thankful—our rich heritage, our abundant natural resources, our scenic beauty, our great diversity—with many cultures and religious traditions—and the contributions of our creative and hard-working populace. We are blessed with a prosperity that is unmatched. Let us always be willing to generously share our good fortune with those who are in need:  the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the ill, the homeless, those who are victims of crime, and those in prison. May our lawmakers defend our freedom to follow our consciences in serving God and neighbor, according to our faith. And as we go about our business today, let us focus on the common good with a spirit of cooperation, openness, compromise, respect, and kindness.—AMEN.
