Almighty God, as Californians, we have many blessings for which we are thankful: our rich heritage, our abundant natural resources, our scenic beauty, our great diversity with many cultures and religious traditions, and the contributions of our creative and hard-working populace.
We also have many opportunities to share Your divine love, as we come to the aid of those who are in need: the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the ill, and those in prison.
As we go about our business today, let us focus on the common good with a spirit of cooperation, openness, compromise, respect, and kindness.
And let us pray for God’s blessings on the members of this body, as they deliberate, enact laws, and serve their brothers and sisters.—AMEN.
