Dear God, thank You for this day and the opportunity to serve in the Legislature. We pray for every member here in the Legislature, for the Governor, for our families, and for our friends. We pray especially for the horrific massacre in South Carolina and the impacted families and the impact on our nation. That our nation will remain one and that we will be one in spirit and across all racial lines; that those will diminish and we would serve as one within our nation.
I’d like to close this prater with a reading from Matthew, Chapter 10: Verses 3-10:
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
