Prayer Offered for June 7, 2021

Merciful God who desires that all should be free: this past weekend, we remembered that 77 years ago American soldiers and other Allied forces landed and parachuted into Normandy, helping to bring an end to World War II in Europe.

We pray in gratitude for those who gave their lives for our freedom.

We pray in gratitude for World War II veterans and for all veterans dedicated to protecting our freedoms today.

We pray in gratitude for the many freedoms we possess—freedom of religion, speech, the press, freedom to assemble and petition, and freedom to cast our vote.

God of mercy, grant us the courage and fortitude to persevere in bringing to fruition in our lifetime our deepest desires for liberty and justice for all. We ask this in Your name.—AMEN.
