We pray this prayer in honor of César Chávez by Rafael Jesús González
God of all peoples and nations, show us the suffering of the most miserable;
So we will know our people’s plight.
Free us to pray for others;
For You are present in every person.
Help us to take responsibility for our own lives;
So that we can be free at last.
Grant us courage to serve others;
For in service there is true life.
Give us honesty and patience;
So that we can work with workers.
Bring forth song and celebration;
So that Your Spirit will be alive among us.
Let Your Spirit flourish and grow;
So we will never tire of the struggle.
Let us remember those who have died for justice;
For they have given us life.
And help us love even those who hate us;
So we can change the world.—AMEN.
