Holy Elusive God, in every religion we desire to know Your truth. We seek You, pursue You, and try to define You with names and attributes. Yet our spiritual impulse never reaches its goal—for You are always an otherness beyond our comprehension. Still, in the quiet of sacred spaces, in the ecstasy of blessed human moments, in the painful experiences of grief and fear, we seem to achieve a sense of Your presence. For this we give You thanks, united with all the world in our continual desire to be present to your elusive truth.—AMEN.
