Marion Wright Edelman, Founder of the Children’s Defense Fund, once said: “We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore small daily differences we can make, which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.”
Mother Teresa of Calcutta once said: “God does not ask us to do great things, only little things with great love.”
O God who journeys with us today,
pitch your tent with ours
so that we may not be deterred
by hardship, strangeness or doubt.
Show us the movement we must make
toward a wealth not dependent on possessions,
toward a wisdom not based on books,
toward a strength not bolstered by might,
toward a god not confined to heaven.
Help us do the next thing we have to do today.
Help us do it with our whole heart.
Help us take delight in doing it.
Today, help us do some small good with great love.—AMEN.
