Prayer Offered for May 6, 2021

There is no power greater than a community discovering what it cares about. Ask “What’s possible?” not “What’s wrong?” And keep asking. Assume that many others share your dreams.

(“Turning to One Another” by Margaret J. Wheatley)

Loving and merciful God, each year as we celebrate Cinco de Mayo we remember the Battle of Puebla and its implications for the future of the United States.

Today, we ask Your help as we work to lead our country forward for the benefit of our descendants.

May we have the courage and determination to engage in needed courageous conversations.

May we work to forge creative solutions that will benefit all, especially those whose needs we may not easily notice.

May we trust in the generosity and human ingenuity of each other to act on our deepest desires for goodness and right.

We continue to trust in the outpouring of Your Spirit to wake us up to the new and surprising possibilities emerging from our current situation. We make our prayer in Your name.—AMEN.
